Place of Birth: Hong Kong
Mother: Mei “Never” Wong

Early Life

Nicole Wong, known as Nikki Night-Vision, was born blind in Hong Kong in 2011. From her earliest days, her parents, Mei “Never” and Jian “Always,” noticed her sharp memory and quick wit. While some children teased her for being different, Nikki amazed her teachers by answering questions faster than anyone else in the class.

At the age of seven, she won her first school quiz — the prize was a Mars bar, which she proudly declared “tasted like victory.” It was only the beginning. By nine, Nikki was competing in junior quiz competitions across the city, often beating older children. Her reputation grew, and classmates began joking that “Nikki Wong is never wrong.”

Moving to the UK

When Nikki’s extraordinary intelligence began attracting attention, Mei and Jian were offered an opportunity too good to refuse: a research fellowship at Cambridge University, where Nikki would also have access to world-class support and education.

The family relocated to England, and Nikki continued to shine. She competed in national quiz tournaments, once even reaching the finals of Brain of Britain Junior, where she came second against contestants several years older.

Later, when Jian’s renewable energy work took the family further north, they moved again — this time to the remote but welcoming Shetland Islands, where Nikki’s life would change forever.

Discovery of Powers

One stormy night during a school trip to a planetarium, a sudden blackout plunged the room into complete darkness. For Nikki, it was nothing new. But this time, something inside her shifted. She felt the world glow — outlines, shapes, and hidden details shimmered around her.

Nikki could now see in the dark. It wasn’t “normal” sight — it was something deeper, a unique power that let her sense what others could not.

The Extraordinary Eight

When Nikki met the Extraordinary Eight, she finally found a team who understood. They weren’t afraid of her blindness, or of her brilliance. Instead, they saw her for who she was: a leader who could guide them through the darkest places, both literally and figuratively.

Legacy and Message

Nikki Night-Vision’s story is proof that brilliance comes in many forms. She teaches children that being different doesn’t make you less — it can make you extraordinary. Even in darkness, Nikki carries her own light.
